Understanding the geography of the bay

Lan Ha Bay occupies the crescent-shaped body of water immediately east and southeast of Cat Ba Island. To the north, it transitions seamlessly into Ha Long Bay without any physical barrier (the border is marked only by an administrative provincial line between Hai Phong and Quang Ninh).

The southern entrance is guarded by Ben Beo harbour and Cai Beo floating village, while the eastern edge faces the open Gulf of Tonkin.

Note for vehicle and passenger transfers: in March 2024, the public ferry terminal was moved from old Ben Got to the newly built Dong Bai terminal nearby to ease seasonal holiday traffic.

We recommend opening the map while connected to Wi-Fi before your cruise. If you have a local Viettel eSIM, the map loads smoothly anywhere in the bay.
